Blog - April 2009
The image below, taken in the
Grand Canyon, is one of twenty five matted and framed photographs that
now hang in a newly opened local restaurant in Batavia called
Larry's Steakhouse. The images are from a southwest photo trip I took
in March 2006. The next two photographs are of the restaurant interior.

Below
are two image composites for the front and back of a promotional card I
designed for Larry's Steakhouse. Owner Steve Mullen was pleased with
the results. If you look closely you can see my framed artwork
hanging on the walls. Georgia and I recently had dinner there and we
were very pleased....congrats to the chef!

The next photo is one of my favorite images from a shooting session in the studio with Matt and Danielle...
Digital
photography is a dynamic and constantly changing technology. One
of the best ways to stay informed is to attend seminars and
workshops. This past week I attended two different educational
events.
David
Ziser and his "Digital WakeUp Call Tour 2009" were at the Marriott
Buffalo/Niagara on Apr 9th. David is a generous and inspirational
teacher with over three decades of experience in the photography
business. I saw him in 2006 at a similar event. His blog is called Digital Pro Talk
and is read daily by thousands of photographers all over the world.
After his program, I had the opportunity to talk with him briefly and
have this photo taken (David Ziser is on the right):
Tammy Wolfe and Tamar London are inspirational speakers and talented photographers. Their studio is called London Wolfe Photography and
is based in central Pennsylvania. Their two-day program,
which took
place in Webster, NY... just east of Rochester, covered a variety of
topics. They presented a very informative, yet entertaining
dialogue, each expressing her views. Although they came from different
backgrounds and have very different personalities, they have combined
their talents to develop a successful photography business plan.
I'm glad I attended.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to update the portrait of Dr. JoAnne Cobler. She is a physician at Buffalo Cardiology & Pulmonary Associates,
and has been chosen as one of Business First's Healthcare 50,
which honors extraordinary professionals in the medical field. Congratulations Dr. Cobler! The
photo below and more detailed info about her accomplishments
will appear in the April 2009 issue of "Business First".
Photos have also been sent to the American Heart Association
for the annual Go Red for Women, on May 7, 2009, where Dr. Cobler
is Luncheon Chair. One of the features of the event will be a silent
auction, the proceeds of which will benefit research for women and
heart disease. Last week, Georgia and I attended a "Gift Gathering
Party" at the Iacono Ballroom Center.
Those of us who attended donated gifts for the silent auction. All
participants had a mini dance lesson from Paula Iacono. It
has been awhile since I have done any dancing - it was fun and
good exercise. Later, we saw firsthand how active
and fit Dr. Cobler is. She beautifully demonstrated
several different dances, in a performance that lasted about 30
minutes.
Thanks for inviting
us!
