Blog - June 2010 This month's blog includes work from April, May & June...
I would like to introduce Jordan, a 2010 High School Graduate. He was fun to work with, open to new ideas and so was his mom, Jan, who helped with repositioning our off-camera lights during the photography session. He had specific ideas regarding props he wanted in his photos, like his car. He is also a hunter, and
so his rifle was part of the composition in some of the set-ups. He
also preferred a natural setting, rather than a studio setting. In
order to minimize background distractions and focus more on our
subject, I decided to schedule/start shooting a little before
twilight, and continue into darkness. A big thanks to Georgia, and Jordan's mom Jan, for helping with the lights.
and "Yours truly" jumped into this photo...thanks for the click Georgia!

Finger Lakes members of PPSNYS are introduced to the fantasy village of Thornhill (Ithaca, NY area) where we enjoyed a live action version of the game Dungeons & Dragons. Thanks to Monroe Payne and his wife Janet for having us. Also thanks to the Players for an inspired performance! I carpooled with fellow members Kevin and Ameka, thanks for the ride!
Next up... a portrait session done in the studio. Ted was Professor of Music at Genesee Community College before retiring. His portrait needed updating in preparation for having a piece of his music published. I totally enjoyed working with him, and am honored to be selected as the photographer.

On June 4th the Richmond Memorial Library honored the service of five very dedicated people. It took place at Bohn's Restaurant in Batavia. Congratulations to Sandy, Rita, Leslie, Jim and Michelle. Sandy is retiring after 38 years, and that is hard to believe, she does not look like she has worked somewhere for 38 years! The goodies were great too! Thanks for asking me to be there, camera ready.
The Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. was on display at the Batavia VA Medical Center last weekend, 6/26.
Plus... What was extra special for me, was getting to see, up close and personal, a Chinook CH-47. I've not seen one in decades. I
have about 500 hours in the air, as a crewchief & sometimes flight
engineer, in one of these helicopters. I practically lived on it, back
then! I'm so glad Georgia wanted to see this, it is even more special when you are "with" the one you love!
